The St. Olaf Community Campus exists to stabilize the community through relationship based services that empower and serve the residents of North Minneapolis. HISTORY Formed in 2008, the St. Olaf Community Campus (SOCC) is a new organization. The ministries it draws together have a long and rich history. St. Olaf Lutheran Church was formed by Norwegian immigrants in 1873. The church moved to its present location on the campus in 1911. In 1964, the church formed the St. Olaf Residence nursing home to provide housing and medical services to elderly residents of the community. The North Minneapolis Meals on Wheels was formed in 1971. An assisted living facility was added in 1993. The Day Stay Program for Northside Seniors originally started by St. Olaf Residence was passed onto Volunteers of America in 2001. New Directions Youth Ministry joined the campus in 1998 to develop the youth ministry of the church. Third Way Housing and Pillsbury United Communities joined the campus in 2005 and 2007, respectively. The SOCC serves to coordinate the efforts of these agencies to best meet the spiritual, health, education and welfare needs of the neighborhood according to the word of God.
